I'm curious if I can make my 1 Banana Plant into 2 Banana Plants. Can it be done? How?

Thanks!

Anyone? I see on some sites they say to bury a large leaf, but they never say anything about these Banana Plants. How the heck to I propagate? (yes this is a bump :P)

I wouldn't think it would be smart to cut the banana part in half, sorta like how you shouldn't cut a plant's rhizome in half, but I'm not really sure...

people cut anubias rhizomes in half but bannana plants seem different

Well, I found the plant on http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=768+791&pcatid=791 but I'm not green-thumb... what does " Propogation: Adventitious Plants, Formed leaves pressed into substrate" mean? Just push a leaf into the gravel and it makes a new plant? Do I have to clip the leaf 1st or is it still attached to the 1st plant?

BTW, this info on this plant is a bit wrong, my plant has only been in my tank for 4 months and its already 8 inches in size. In fact, 1 of the leafs is 4.5 inches wide.

Screw it! The LFS had them on clearance for $0.50 each today. So I bought 2 more :D

Heres some pics of my large Banana Plant that my Oscar wont even touch. Its a GREAT plant!

haha agreed

LOL yeah I agree too! My wife, in all her wisdom, thought it would be wise to let our 3 year old (now 4) daughter pick the gravel color. Naturally she said "Pink"... so I got Red and said it looked pink to me. At least its a strong contrasting color to all the green in the tank. My 150gal is getting the river rock I have sitting in the 5gal buckets right now. No Hippie Pink for the Man Tank!
