Ok, here's the deal. I want to make my 110gal look nicer. I am doing a fish only type setup with some rock for hiding spaces. But I am having a hard time making it NOT look like crap. I like to have it sortof open because the fish I plan to keep in it are big and I don't want to crowd the tank with rocks and rubble.
THE PROBLEM is that this tank is so friggin tall. It's a 75gal footprint, but it's about 30"+ tall so even filling that huge amount of space is a challenge without stacking a heck of a lot of rock up (and I don't really want to spend that much money on rocks when I could be saving that money for the fish)

I am really open to suggestions on how to "pretty up" this tank. I was thinking a nicer background might help, but I dunno. Maybe make some fake kelp or something that will go all the way up to the top?

Try building it in a more reef setting...by that I mean a curved bowl with higher ends and lower center. Also move it out into the middle of the tank to allow scared fish to hide in the rear and allow you to clean on all sides of it.

Caves and swim throughs are always good if you will have some smaller fish, but with a Volitan I assume this will not be the case. Be aware he will need a new home within 1 yr as they grow to 8-10" in 1-1.5 yrs and make a 75g look small. Mine is the main reason I converted my 240g to Salt so he could have a better home.

Look at my sigantures for stacking ideas.

Stacking rock always suckls and will take lots of trial and error as every piece fits together differently.

I used a large tube and moved pieces into the tank 1 at a time to allow me room to work. Might want to pull your lion out while you are redoing the deco.
