I still have yet to setup my 150g, but i know for certain its going to be stocked with cichlids, not sure how many and what kind, maybe even a small mix of SA/CA and maybe a pike. So with that being said, and being somewhat unfamiliar with the site and information, can i assume in general that most cichlids enjoy the same water temp, pH, and what not??

I have a sump, and have yet to buy a heater so thats what i'm looking for more or less is a range of temp to keep the tank at for the fish and a small range of pH that they can live together at. Since i dont know exact fish i'm looking for more of general range, that can later be tweaked. Maybe even a good idea of lighting.

I was hoping to use a substrate more fine LIKE sand, but NOT sand, most likely a lighter color, with some driftwood and rocks in the tank, since i wont be used CO2 injection the tank will have several low light plans but thats about it.

Suggestions and critisim welcome.

Thanks in advance!

yep most enjoy similar conditions,,,,,but discus and some others require tweeking with water.....this is my 150 us gallon 5ft/2ft/2ft...temp 26c water straight from tap....but you have to muture tank/filter be4 adding fish

cheers ron...tanks and inhabitants ok now for a year and more

Good luck with it, it looks awsome. Best thing about living in the south (im in London) is the water is perfect for Cichlids/Piranha, just needs dechlorinating

so with the exception of discus, most cichlids arent too picky when it comes to water conditions and water temp as long as they are within safe levels and the water isnt too cold?

btw thats a really nice tank setup you have there. Are those plants fake or real??
