So, I had an audition last friday in MN and I got turned down.

My parents are always fretting about my future and they don't want me to turn into a street bum.

I am thinking about going to community college for a year and pursuing a degree in business management now.

I have always wanted to make a living on fish though.

So, What kind of degrees do you guys have that are actually making you money and a good life at fish? Marine Biology?

How do I succeed at this? Is it just like I am doing now? Collecting tanks and researching and breeding and selling?

I am just looking for some direction into this hobby as a money making future.

I love fish and will keep them no matter what I do but if I can make a living at it I can't imagine anything better.

Thanks for reading and helping me out guys!

No breeders out there have any advice?

Breeding fish is easy... making a profit off breeding is difficult... creating a sustainable market nich to fill is what keeps everyone here from quiting their job to sell fish.

And, the few people who find the magic formula for mixing husbandry, engineering, and marketing don't usually reveal the secret to their success on public forums.

With that said, I would say, keep chasing your dreams... but dont neglect preparing for your future in the mean time. Go to school and pick the most challanging and profitable degree field you can handle. Along the way, you will find that success will come to those who work the hardest and take advantage of the most opertunities.

The best way to make money with fish is fish farming/aquaculture, which is raising fish for people to eat!

I wouldn't mind raising fish for people to eat. Honestly any thing that involves fish and making a living. Any advice possible.

Just curious, what was your audition for? Dance? Acting? Singing?

Look into aquaculture classes. That and business classes should get you where you want to go.

I will check those out. I heard of a fly fishing class too. That sounded exciting!
