making a new sump?

what all do i need?

can i use my 18 gallon rubbermaid tub as a sump?

i dont have anytiong that can divide the filter media but i do have filter media and everything besides the dividers. i want to make it tongiht but dont know if i should

What size tank will it be for? If you can suspend the media up of the bottom of the sump and put the media in say, a laundry bag or some such bag, you really dont NEED to chamber off the sump. Just provide a basin, flow the water from the tank over mechanical, bio and polishing(in that order). Ive got an old acrylic tank as my sump and it works outstanding without chambers.
