I'm tired of replacing the pump for my python kit. I bought some PVC last night to build one and I just have one question. If you look on the python's pump it a cone shaped portion inside of it. Is this needed to create the vacuum? Or will the vacuum start if it is just a straight shot downward from the faucet?

You can buy a pump made for waterbeds for under $10 and they are durable. You need to create a venturi like effect. There needs to be fast moving water going past the inlet, that means a nozzle is probably necessary.

its not the fast moving water that does it. its the accellerated then deaccellerated water that does it. you need that cone shaped portion to create the lowerpressure area that does the sucking. you can buy premade venturi pumps and use those, but i'm sure there are DIY plans out there.
