making some aquarium decor. with pvc tube I've found that acrylic paints after sitting in water for several hours, softens up and clouds the tank water. is there some type of clear coat that i can used to keep the paint on but will not harm the fish? please help if you can?

Krylon or Rustoleum makes a spray paint specifically for plastic. Though the name of it escapes me at this moment. You can spray it over acrylic paint and it will adhere well. Once dry you leech it in a tub of water for 24 hours before putting it in the tank. It will require respray every 6-12 months. I forgot exactly which paint it is but I will look to see if I can find it again for you. I did have a can in the garage but I think it went to my sister's house. Lol

It's called Krylon Fusion. Some people don't leech it, but I always do just to be safe (you never know when they may change an ingredient etc). Keep in mind that you can't use spray paint on foam as the propellant will eat the foam.
