I bought a 6” BGK four days ago and is currently in with a 5” ornate bichir . He’s been mostly trying to hide when the lights are being on...so

I’ve started trying to hand feed him and it turned out to be a success! Are there anymore methods I can make the BGK active during day time?

And any suggestions for affordable tank mates to fill the upper space of the tank?

Thanks

When larger then will come out for feeding. Atleast I’ve seen. It’s hit or miss but mainly miss as it’s a nocturnal fish imo.

I've had the same experience with a BGK and totally agree with kno4te kno4te . You can try a clear pvc. If the BGK retreats to the pvc you can see it more.

Had one that started out strictly nocturnal, it really put on a show at lights out. Adding blue "moon" lights helped. 2 or 3 months in it got comfortable and would occasionally do the rounds. Thought about over hanging structure to provide an area of subdued lighting but wasn't necessary.

It never really interacted with its tank mates but was never aggressive either. Great specimen. Got along great with a pair of big angels but would also get their spawns within 1 to 4 days. Other tank mates were a clown knife, silver arowana and a pair of motoros. All comparable size and never any conflict.

Any other cheaper tankmates?
