I keep all my critters in glass tanks because I like to look at them.
With that said, the ugliest critter tank I have is my pixie frogs tank. I cant really keep plants in it because he just burrows into the soil and uproots them.
His favorite thing to do is make a little hole with just his head sticking out and wait for me to drop crickets in.
I was thinking about putting more moss or something in his tank to make it nice and green looking instead of just the ugly brown of the soil, but I dunno.
If I put some smaller plants in I was thinking of maybe putting them in those little mini plant pots and siliconing them in place to the floor of the tank so that he cant dig underneath them.
I would like to see pics of your pixie/pacman frog habitats if you got em. Otherwise, how about some ideas on how to make it look nicer and more natural.

here is a trick i use with my cichlids, since they uproot everything too...

take a pot, flip it upside down and drill a hole bigenough for the stem of the plant to go through with about 1/2" clearance around, then stick the plant through underneith the pot so now the pot it upside down with the plant comming up through where the bottom was, then pack some soil up into it, burry it in your tank about 1/2" from the bottom of the tank so the roots can spread. then cover it with your soil/decorate it with either hot glueing rocks onto it or with moss...

no way he can lift the pot or get in through the top, and if need be you can still water it or it can draw water up from the bottom depending how dry your tank is...

Could you perhaps try silk plants?

dont add moss what ever you do it can cause impactions when they are feeding if you want to see some cool tanks go to you tube and type in pyxie frog, theres a frog called fred he has a half and half tank,,thats the way forward

what about vine plants, or create a background in the tank that you can put plants potted in, that's a good way or clinging wall plants. I was going to say maybe some stones with moss on to add some greenery... but if no moss don't do it.

i use a peat moss/spahgnum moss mix in my whites treefrogs and my marine toad. the toad does get moss in his mouth, but he spits it out faster then you can say oh %^$. lol the whites have been living on it for 3 yrs no probs. when i got the toad it was being kept on those wood chips ( like reptibark) and after a day of haing it in my tank i saw that he had passed one of those in the water dish. if your temps are good and its healthy, i think that small amounts of plant matter will be passed no probs. you should try adding a half log to your tank and some other short stumpy branches....

i use ferns and ivy in my tanks. looks real ''jungly''.
