Good Morning MFK!

I been having this issue for sometime now. I need some advice on how to get my 12in RTC off feeders and on pellets. Can someone please help?

Yes, i am sorry for not spelling it out. He does eat tilapia at times but i want to get hime on pellets as well. Some on talked me into buying Massivore and i want to use them.

Best way is get tilapia stuff it with pellets and he should start to take them. IMO at that size I would just get him onto frozen foods as pellets to a hungry RTC will cost u an arm and a leg.

WoW! I just relaized i posted the mt RTC thread in the PBass Forum! SMH! I currently feed my RTC once a week is that good or bad? By the way this thread was "SUPPOSED" to be for my Peacock Bass! I have a 6in PBass that will not touch anything but feeders. Any suggestions for him?

RTC are the last fish to need and be jeopardized by feeding live. It should be rather simple. Don't offer anything but the pellets. Try offering pellets only once a week for a few months. It may take a week or it may take 3 months but he will take them. If you are starting with a healthy, robust fish, even a 6-month fast is not too big a deal. But if your RTC will keep refusing pellets for more than a few weeks, I think it'd be some kind of record.

Keep the water nice and pristine and his appetite will peak as well. Seems that the fresh water must stimulate hunger in catfish. IMO. lol. Yeah usually I always give them pellets or blood worms the first night and never even have to worry about feeding them live in the first place. You shouldn't have any issues at all and remember your catfish can go months without eating so a few days/weeks won't bother him at all. So don't give in to that cute face and go buy feeders. He will learn to love pellets, fillets, and shrimp over time. :)

rtc aren't usually picky eaters he should be easy to transition over the pbass not so much but use the same method as with the redtail the pbass can't go nearly as long without food 2-3 weeks is the longest i'd risk also try hikari floating carnisticks but if this doesn't work what i've done in the past is coat the feeders in a garlic extract like one for fishing the coat the pellets in the same so they get used to the taste and smell once off live you'll notice the the growth rate will quicken a bit hope this helps
