Setting up a new tank, stand is 32 inches high. Placing this behind a couch that is 36 inch to the top. Is it possible to add some plywood on the bottom of stand? I am looking to make the stand a little taller so the tank will be more visible next to the couch.

I was thinking 2x 3/4 inches sheets on the bottom of the stand & 2x 3/4 inch on top of the stand. I know the plywood would be seen but I plan on triming out the stand and tank with trim anyway.

Hello; Have you considered placing something solid under the stand? Perhaps some 4x4 or 6x6 post lumber laying the long way on the floor and under the stand. I think a 4x4 is not really 4 inches, some what less. The difference could be made up with a sheet of plywood on top of the lumber and under the stand. A 6x6 may be very close to what you need and should be very stable when laid on the side. You would want them for sure around the perimeter of the stand and a few short lengths in between if it is a flat bottom wood stand.

build a plywood base to raise the tank to your liking.
with a base you can make it so it can be used as a
cabinet so you extra storage room for fish supplies
& etc etc...
