hi, i've been reading around about having a black back tank and how to do it.
I've been wondering though, instead of using paint, can i use spray paints instead ?
Or, would it be better to just get some black coloured paper and stick it to the back of the tank ?

You sure can!

Roll or brush on with latex, and it will peel right off if you change your mind!

wow ! thanks for the many replies guys ! :D
i was wondering , how long would it normally take for the paint to dry completely? do people paint the sides too to make it really dark?

I actually prefer spray paint.

My favorite brand by far is Rustoleum Universal Formula flat black. Gold colored label. Available at home depot.

You can paint the sides but you won't be able to see into your tank from the sides...

depends on layers once its dry its dry maybe half hour or more, but a lot of people wait like a day or so

here is something you might try,get a piece of black canvas at afabric store tape it onthe back , mine looks as good as paint
