Putting their money where my fish's mouth is.

I am going to take the 10 day challenge presented by NLS.

Their statement:
"Many claim to be the best. We simply guarantee results!"

Their challenge:
"Feed New Life Spectrum® fish food exclusively for 10 days.

You will begin to notice enhancement in color and vitality of your fish or we will simply refund your money."

They Made some swanky video of a distressed fish on day 0, day 10, and day 30.

So I am going to do the same thing, except I will take 30 - 60 second video's of all my fish each day for 10 days.

At the conclusion of this 10, you MFK will decide, do you see improvement or not.

I am currently looking for a place to purchase the food, I found it a petco, but they only had the 3mm, I would really like the 6mm. So keep your eyes open for the next week for the start of this experiment.

I have 6mm in stock. :)

I've made the switch to NLS, but some of my fish aren't really liking it too much... especially my polleni which actually spits it back out...

FYI - the malnourished fish in the swanky video is a Moorish Idol, notorious as being one of the most difficult marine fish to keep alive in captivity. Pablo Tepoot, the creator of NLS, has kept "groups" of this species alive in captivity for several years, probably one of the few (if not the only) person on the planet that can make such a claim.

Kieron Dodds, from Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine wrote an article on the Moorish Idol in 2008, titled; "Still Impossible After All These Years - Keeping Moorish Idol". He clearly admits that the main intent of his article was to discourage anyone from acquiring this species, as he feels this species has almost no chance in being kept alive in captivity beyond a very short duration. At one point in the article he states "Pablo Tepoot is perhaps the single individual who has had the most success with this species" - unfortunately Pablo lost his last group of Moorish Idol to an electrical failure during a hurricane, at that point Pablo had kept them thriving in captivity for over 5 years.

Something that most people would have considered impossible 15 or 20 yrs ago.

Good luck with your feed trial.

Althougbh i didn't feed NLS exclusively when I switched my fish over, I did notice some major colour changes. It is their staple feed. I use cichlasoma 3mm, thera A+ 1mm & 3mm and 1mm community. All are hit hard by all my fish, I didn't see this behaviour with hikari when I used it.
For example my midas is now more of a blue and white/light grey colouration with a lot more red on the pectoral area and 4 multispinosa that I recently acquired were almost black in the shop (not abused though as per some lfs) and after a couple of weeks on NLS they are getting a bright yellow and blue on them.

Good luck with the test and I look forward to seeing your results.

I am very happy since adding NLS to a majority of my fishes diet. I have slowly been replaceing my Hikari w/ NLS over the past few months. Really wish they had a large floating pellet =/ seems like I have to throw a whole handful of tiny pellets in for my arrow and gar. They still both go out of their way to pick up each pellet.

FYI - NLS has been making a 7.5mm floating pellet for years.

Petco near me has almost every type of nls except the above, or any that float. Some of my guys arent interested unless its floating at the surface, but those that do get nls like it. I dont feed it exclusively for the reason above but it seems pretty good.
