How fast do these guys grow?

Can they be kept with other fish? In doing some research of various literature it seems that the opionions on the matter are mixed.

I've had one and the growth rate was fast. Picked it up at 3" and 6 months later I measured it at 14.5"

Mean as hell at that size too. LoL

if i remember right i found 1-2" a month to be average.

Don't forget that the growth rate depends on the tank size and the quantity and quality of the food .Generally i agree with the above post , almost 1-2 inch per month.
