Hi there. I just wanted to post a recent experience that I had.
I had (6) Sacramento Perch in a cycled 30 gallon, that appeared to have some Ick on them. Instead of going with the tried and true Sea Salt (1/2 to 3/4 tps. per gallon) method, I completely forgot and used the "Ick Away" tabs. Everything seemed fine until the following morning when I went in to find all (6) of the young of Year Perch dead! I knew that other Centrarchids are sensetive to Copper based treatments, but apparently so are Sacramento Perch as well.
Long story short- "Don't use ANY Copper based meds on any of the Sunfishes."
I had to learn the hard way. Fortunately, we were able to Seine for another half dozen, and the new population in the tank is doing quite well. They too seemed to develope an Ick infestation, but it was quickly treated with just Sea Salt. Thanks again for having such an incredible forum. I'm very happy to be on board. take care.
Ben.
