I have a 75 gallon tank with 18 malawaian cichlids, 1 frontosa, 1 pleco, 1 synodontus multi., and one pictus catfish. I just noticed a bulge in one of the cichlids mouth. As i took a closer look I was able to see the eyes of fry swimming inside it's mouth. My question is will they survive in this tank or do I have to take the fish w/ the fry out and put it another tank or put in a divider? What should the divider be made out of and what size holes should it have? I tried to net the fish out but it is so hard to catch. Is there any other techniques i could use to catch this fish ? Any info will greatly be appreciated. Thank You

They will deifinitaley not survive. If you don't want to go through the trouble of keeping the fry, then just leave the holding fish in the tank, and the fry will become snacks.

If you want to keep the fry, then remove the holding fish and put her in another tank. Just get a 10 gallon tank if you need to. Let her spit her fry, then put her back in the big tank.

My africans in my 125gal have had fry and many many many have survived :headbang2 infact theres soooooooooooo many lately... if you have alot of hiding places then i would say they'll will probably be some survivors.. i have to feed my tank 3 different types of food.. cichlid pellets for the adults, fine cichlid pellets for the little guys and flake food for the fry..:nilly: if you want healthy large batches of pure africans take the mother out and place in 10 gal like everyone said.. i am lucky there have been no hybrids.. because i have a couple of breeding pairs only.
