moving this thread to the African rift lakes cichlids forum so that you can get more answers from experienced Malawi keepers. ;)

should be fine, i have seen it done before, should be great especially in that size tank!
472.5 litres = 125g

so your tank is about 190 gallons!!!

remember , just make plenty of hiding places

No problem.I've had Tire Track eels and Fire eels with Africans before. The only problem you might have is making sure they can eat.I've had eels that did not like to come up to eat and they didn't last.Hopefully you get one that likes to swim up top and eats.I had one of these that lasted years.

I know that they're not the same kind of fish but I have a Convict cichlid and a Snowflake(freshwater) eel in a 40 gal and thay get along fine. Sometimes the eel goes into the convict cave and the cichlid pushes him out but other than that there is no problem at all.

take a look at the pics I posted...I have 3 eels in with my mbuna's and they get along fine...put a few pvc or conduit pipes burried halfway in the substrate to give them shelter. I mainly feed them brine and mysis, and twice a week blood worms piped directly into their hiding spots.
