You can't tell from these pictures. These fish take a while to show color. I had a 5" specimen who had almost no color and now at around 11" he has amazing color. He is actually my avatar pic.

This one actually has a blue sheen to his lips and flanks, its enough for me to know its likely a male, that and I chose the largest most dominant fish in the store. Heres some more pics after some protein feeding for a while.
