Malawi buffer or crushed coral

Are things like Malawi buffer and Cichlid salt the same thing as adding crushed coral or argonite to a tank or do they act differently?

I'm trying to add natural trace elements and also buffer the pH. What do you recommend?

coral will be enough. the salts and buffers are good but it depends if you want to deal with the mixing and all. i used C.C. with my malawi and they did fine for years.

I just wanted something I could put in my canister filter to buffer it, so coral it is.

I have used CC for years without a problem..........

But I also have buffer and salts if I need, about once every year I have added the buffer.

I may try that then. It's only $4.00 for some of the salts and it treats quite a bit so it'll last a while.

i dont like crushed coral so i use reef sand crushed coral cut my hand up...

I don't plan on touch it. I'm putting it in a pantyhose like sock and putting it in my canister filters.

ahh i c but will it be enough to buffer the whole tank?? you do know if you use some type of cc you can up your bio load by 50%
