I just recently bought a couple of compressiceps. they are a few inches long and their sex is indistinguishable at this time. i did some researching on the web about this species and didnt come up with too much so if anyone is experienced with this fish i would greatly appreciate some pointers on the best way to keep them...thanks, matt

Hybrid? When I brought my young Eye Biters there snout was alot longer and their colouration was quite different. Maybe your fish are still just young and need time to develop since this species is one of the slowest growing.

Im not any kind of expert on malawi fish id but after a little bit of research myself, that fish does have a different appearance that the ones i saw, some of the appearance is the same, as all of those dont look alike exactly, you might look for a thread here where all those chiclid guys hang out to get a positive ID.

i purchaced them at a very reputable store with tons of cichlids and the store worker was very knowledgable at the species....i just get pissed to thing they sodl me a fish under the wrong name
