Mile High in Northern AZ, baby!~
Thanks to some Brotherly love, from PhullTank57,
I got the piece of driftwood I been holding out for...

It measures 36" long X 20" tall X 13" wide...
perfect for the driftwood centerpiece in my 225g.

This is it on Dry Land, ground shipping only, it'll be here in a few days...

What would you, or have you paid for a piece like this...
Just wanna gauge the market, and see if I paid too much... Thanks ~BenO

Man driftwood is outrageous these days, I could see a piece like that going for probably 80 bucks around here..

Are you going to set it up like that, or lay it on it's side?

in my neck of the wood i have seen drift wood alot smaller then that go way over 100 bucks

Yeah, it seems that there is quite the market for good tank wood.

I have spent over a hundred for 3 smaller pieces of "mopani" african wood from the lfs...after I got them to sink, they grew that white-ish mold/fungus that made it look terrible... I wound up tossing it too.

It will leech some tannins for a while, (great Ph lowering feature) But it sinks right off.

If the quality of the pieces are as good as they look in pics, I'll see if the importer will let go of some for me to offer to members here...

online it would probably be 60$ plus another 50$ in shipping. I just got a 14x12x10 piece for 14$ on sale. I soaked it in a bucket but after three days the waste was still crystal clear so I dropped it in.

Did you circulate the water with a powerhead or something?
Did you use dechlorinator in the soak water?

250.00? I dunno. Wood is so expensive I find.
A scrape or two less than that, including the shipping...

Considering it had to come all the way from the worlds largest continent, Asia, to this side of the planet, after being found, collected, bought, sold, and imported, no telling how many times it changed hands, and how much agricultural politics were involved...it's amazing it is even available, let alone affordable...

no, and no. Just left it sunk in a big bucket and stirried it up and moved it around 2 times per day.

nice piece, here's my malaysian driftwood. it measures about 36" long x 22" high x 21" wide, it's still leaching a little as you can see, but i couldn't presoak because it wouldn't even fit in the tub completely. i paid $70 for it but i got a deal because i also bought around 160lbs of gravel and a 120lb rock the same day.
