soak it in hot water , it takes alooooong time for the leaching to stop but im pretty sure malaysion driftwood is pretty much aquaria safe from the get go

albyoscar is correct looooooooooooooooong time for the tannic acid leaching to stop but perfectly safe .

I use it sinks right away . Mine took about 8 months for leaching to stop . Doesn't bother fish at all . Imagine it can lower PH but other than that its fine.

I soaked mine an hour in bucket with HOT water before using it longer you soak it in hot water more tannic it leaches but as far as nasty organisms its fine as think most is land type wood anyway not taken from the water.

I am anal and the leaching did bother me but water changes and carbon.etc its no big deal the first 2 months it will leach the most again depending on size.

also it bleaches ur water a brownish for a bit

I have a lot of driftwood in my 75 and some of it still leaches after 4 years. It isn't that noticeable until I do a large water change and the tank seems a little brighter, but there is definitely a very very slight tint to the water after a few days.
