This is my two Jack Dempseys. One is roughly 7 in and the other is about 9. I am pretty sure they are male and female, but I may be wrong. I also need to know if the tank setup is good for breeding. Also and tips or advice would be great.

definitly male and female, what size tank are they in, it looks like a 29, and i don't see any hiding spots for the female.

it does look like u have a male and female.....top one is the male and the bottom is the female. how big is the tank? cause its prolly better to have a long tank then a tall.

The tank is a 65... So your telling me that the big one is the female?

it should be its the one with pearling above the eye which is what i read was the best way to tell. i have a JD too and thats what i got from my research.

What do you mean by pearling? The white mark on the big one is from a fight btw....

i go with pearls on the gill plate. dont remember which is which, but you have one of each.

i did not say it was ok in a 29, your pic is decieving. it looks small, what is the foot print of your tank.

i use pvc tubes, something to break up the line of sight, so she can get away if needed. or create rock caves.

The one with less color on the body and more on the gill plate is the female.
