RIP

Had him since he was 1". This was his second batch of eggs with the female... apparently she killed him. I have no idea what happened but he was considerably larger than her, both eating normally, his colors were great, very active fish.

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrates 5ppm
Temperature 82
Ph 7.2

Found him lying close to the rock where they laid eggs. Female is fine, still fanning the eggs. Everyone in the tank is acting normally, he was the biggest fish in it :(

That's odd, I guess fish can have heart attacks too.

He was a very nice looking fish, as a matter of fact he looks better dead then some live ones I've seen around.

Im sorry for your loss, Doesnt look to me like she killed him, Maybe the eggs will turn out and you can raise one of his children as a replacement

Sad loss such a beautiful fish.

Thanks guys

yeah I'm gonna raise the fry since I can't find any other Blue Acaras in Miami where I live.

She's the only fish in the tank that could have killed him... everything else is way too small, water parameters are perfect, no signs of disease whatsoever, no broken heaters, anything. He couldn't have died spontaneously... could he.

I was just In Miami and what can be such a common fish elsewhere seems impossible to find down there at least for me. Unfortunately He very likely just died of something random from the picture he doesn't seem to have ANY torn fins or scales none the less does it look like hes even been pecked at after death. I have good news however!!!! Because I hate to see anyone lose a friend I did some calling around and I found you some Blue Acaras. Depending on where you live in Miami It shouldn't be a bad drive.
