Hi my red jewels had fry finally but after 3 weeks the male is no longer helping guard the fry which is going to be a problem since he is also the dominate male in my tank and the female is on the complete opposite end of the dominance side (has never even shown any kinda of attempts to be dominate ) should i remove her and the fry or will he go back?

he's probably ready to spawn again. i'd keep a good eye on the tank and be ready to move the fry. Are there other fish in the tank? Once they have been free swimming for a few weeks, the parents don't tend to them as much. Occasionally they will grab them and move em, but at this point they just swim around with them.

she is still in here mating colors blood red and is chasing every one away and tries to chase him away. And yes there are other fish in the tank i have 2 blue acara 2 gold saum, 1 yellow lab, a feather fin catfish (deathly afraid of the jewels at 6") and a pleco all the cichlids are at 3 inches and it's 110g tank.

Yeah the female will remain very protective. My female constantly charges at my male and other fish, but never really does anything. She does this also when they attempt to breed. Like I said, could be that time again soon =D. If and when you remove the fry, don't be surprised if they spawn again, but try to leave the fry as long as you can, as long as nothing bad is happening. Or if you plan on raising the fry, start thinking of a growout tank and get it ready for the move.

would love to get a grow out tank but currently cannot afford one so i guess it'll be survival of the fittest there is a good chance some will survive i use to have convicts in there to they had fry and about 6 survived lol so there are plenty of little caves for them to hide in.
