Hey guys, I'm very concerned about my dovii and have attached some pics. Let me try to give the best account as to what has been going on so you may be able to help me. First off water parameters are perfect(500gallon aquarium). Roughly 5 days ago I noticed my dovii acted unlike his usual self and rest on the bottom quite a bit and not very active. Then 2 nights ago he went crazy and slammed himself into the top of the aquarium so hard that he broke through the lid and came out onto my living room floor. I quickly put him back into the tank where for the next 15-20 mins he was lathargic and upside down at times and seeming like he could barely keep himself floating. Not sure if this was due to a disease he has or the fall onto the floor and I'm not even sure what made him go crAzy in the first place. He scratched himself up pretty good. He rested on the bottom very lathargic the whole next day and the same incident happened again where he slammed himself into the top of the tank(this time not jumping out). Once again he was upside down a few mins before flipping back over and acting very lathargic. If I nudge him he will slowly move a foot or so but then just sit there. He's been in the same spot now for the last 12-24 hours(same spot I took these pics in). I notice some scales laying on the bottom of the tank, not sure if this is from a disease or if they are falling due to when he went crazy and scratched himself up. Most of the marks you see in the pics are from scraping when he slammed into the top of the tank I think, but I really need some help on what you guys think. I want to give him the best shot at a recovery if it's determined there is a treatable disease. Thanks so much

Just to add to this post he also seems to be losing color and some scales. I see some scales scattered throughout the tank. Not sure if some of this is due to him smashing into the top of the tank, but seems like a lot of scales for that. Maybe another cause?

I'm not entirely sure what is going on. Is he eating?

No he has not eaten in 5 days since the first episode happened. Just to give a little more info that is not above. He continues to have lost almost all cover(mainly black now). He is just hovering in the same area/resting non stop. I would love to treat him with something if necessary, but not sure where to start

Here are some pics I took just now after unsuccessfully trying to feed him some frozen brine shrimp. Just a note the wound on the side of his mouth occurred when he slammed into the top of the tank a few days ago

I am wondering if it's bloat. Hope more people will chime in to help save this poor guy.

did you double check you water params? I'd start with some smaller water changes daily or every other day and possibly add some salt just to see if that gets him at least unstressed enough to eat.

Yes I double checked parameters and everything is great. Ph is only thing some may call a little high at 8.2, but I've had these fish in that ph for years. As for the water changes my tank is on an automatic System and cycles 50 gallons of fresh water daily while the old water is overflowed out of the house. I see one suggestion of bloat. Anyone else have any suggestions? I've never had experience with bloat, doc symptoms from that include color loss and the fish not wanting to move much at all. Still unsure if he's losing some scales or if the female and the trying to jump out of the tank a week ago are causing that
