just thought i'd do an update on my juvi male dovii. had him around 6 weeks now and he's grown to around 3". feeding him hikari excel, spectrum pellets, fresh fish, prawns and bloodworms. he's in a 5' x 2.5' x 2' by himself so he was fairly timid for the first few weeks. but now he is getting pretty boistrous. ALWAYS hungry!!!!

first and last 2 pics are from the day i got him and the rest are from tonight

i'll try keep updating monthly

awesome pics....Love the DOVII...their some of the meanest little suckers around....

Beautiful fish, I'm getting 2 from fishfarm this Saturday at the CCA meet. Question though, what are the differences between the nicaragua species and the costa rican species? I'm getting one of each.

Nice little male. Showing some of his blue color in his fins. Just wouldnt feed him the live feeders.

I have been told that they differ slightly in body shape and color. One of them has a taller body and more color I think, i bet ken (fishfarm) would be able to tell you.

I wouldn't mind knowing which is which. My Dovii is the longer, less tall bodied variety.

cheers for your comments guys.

as most of you know photo's never give any justice to the fish. his fins are very blue and he has some green/blue face spangling nearly all the way to the top of his head. his 'nose' is getting nice and blue too.

as for live feeders i'm still not even sure i wan't to feed them to him. i've fed them to every other CA/SA i've owned but i don't want him to become to fussy and stop eating pellets. might just do it a few times a year or something
