Male Dovii??

that fish is a Male, females dont have the dots/spots all around the body, when my Dovii's were small the one i thought was the Male was actually the female, she was eating like crazy and out growing the male by two to one, i was thinking it had to be a male, nope. she had no spots on her and the male was way to small for me to tell at the time, when the male started growing he started looking a lot different from the other one, then i was on a site that explained the difference between the two, low and behold the big one i thought was the male actually was not, she had no spots at all, and as the smaller one began to grow his spots got more and more pronounced when you see them both now its absolutely plain as day who the male and female are.

also i noticed between the two the males jaw line was more angular as in more square at the bottom, i noticed that very young but i did not understand what to look for between the two at the time. i always thought the other one grew so fast and was so aggressive towards the other one i was assuming it was a male or they were both female. i am very happy i had the two because it taught me how to differentiate the Male from the Female. my female has since died, and the Male is in the tank alone he disposed of my cuban about two days after the female died. now he is in the tank alone and displaying some absolutely beautiful colors and his hump is getting along very well, he is spotted all over and showing signs of aggression. if i can get a good pic of him i will post it in a little while.
these photos are not very good because my camera phone is the worst. but here are a couple of pics of my Dovii i named him MARSOC short for Marine Corps Special Operations Command. my two Umbee's are named Recon and Scout isn't it obvious i am a Marine. LOL
