Is this a male or female, not mine but I was thinking it’s a male, but some seem to say female.

Looks like a male to me based on the profile and presence of black spots/spangling. Coloration looks more like a female to me, but may develop more blue as it grows. Females usually are more yellow like this. But I'd still guess male.

Looks female color wise, I’m just seeing some spangling and black dots above the black line which makes me think it’s a male.

This was my thought also. I think in another couple inches of growth the pattern will develop and you'll know for sure

My thoughts as well

At the size that it appears to be in the pic a female should have clean flanks with no spots and be more yellow green in color. Presence of spots in the unpaired fins and all that speckling would indicate male. I just raised a female from 1.5 to 6 inches. She looked nothing like this in color or pattern. I'd put money on male.
