Male/female? and temp question

But is this cray a male or female or do you need a different picture for that?

Also what temp does this guy need to be at? Could I keep him at room temp, which is about 60-70 degrees (trying to save $, poor college kid)

O and right now hes hunched up like a mad cat, does that mean hes about to molt?

That crayfish is a male, you can tell by the structure of the claw. Females have much smaller, blunter claws. Though, some males that may be still be regenerating injured claws may be confused for females if you rely merely on looking at the claws. Generally, you look for the gonopods and pleopods on the underside of the crayfish (see here: http://www.crayfishworld.com/sexy.htm)

And that temperature is fine. They can survive much lower and much higher temperatures. Mid 60's to low 70's seems to be the most commonly used temperature for keeping this species, though.

And if he's about to molt you'll see a separation between the body and tail, that will get larger/farther apart as it gets closer to actually molting. Like this:
