Hi I am new to this site, but hoping someone can help. I have a pair of flowerhorns in a 90 gallon tank, temp at 80. She has laid eggs 4 times and the male doesn't fertilize them. I currently have them divided with egg crating, with slate under the divider. All he does is watch her.

How old is he?

Not sure how old he is. I have had him 6 months. He is approx 9 inches long with well developed hump. The pair get along for the most part. He is only aggressive with her after she spawns.

Is she any good looking? Could be the prob !

This is true...only way to find out is trial and error...exactly what you are doing. try a few more times if the result doesn't change, he may not be fertile.

Breeding doesnt usually work the first couple attempts. Takes them a couple times to learn what to do and how to raise fry. Hes probably just not sexual mature or hes not interested in breeding with her.
If he has done his thing on the eggs and they havent been fertilized than he is sterile.

Maybe he is young. He hasn't grown a lot since I got him though. He appears to be interested in what she is doing but doesn't perform his duties
