so i went into petsmart today and found a bunch of 1 to 1 1/2in gt's. I couldnt tell the males from the females apart and neither could the lady helping me. I need a diffinitive way to tell the male gt from the female gt.

please help

gotcha. im thinking about going to house of tropicals in glen burnie this weekend to see what they got, i heard theyve got a nice stock of gt's

As mentioned they cannot be sexed at that size...

As mentioned it's good breeding practices to avoid random inbreeding... and fish from the same store at the same size in the same tank are very very very likely going to be siblings...

yea ill prolly go with one from someone on mfk and one from house of tropicals

I'd just but 3-4 and let them pair up. Sure they might be siblings but unless your going to be breeding a selective trait and breeding back to mother/father,son/mother, etc. you will be fine with a brother and sister breeding.

hmmm ok...that sounds like a good plan, if i have four and they pair up and breed will the other couple kill the offspring of the 1st couple?

Unless you have a big tank(125 or bigger) I doubt two pairs could live in the same tank. More than likely the other two will end up getting attacked/killed. You could move into another tank or return to LFS, whichever.

well ill have a 90 and a 55
