I have a 4' male GT and I was thinking of moving him to a 55 gal by himself.

Will he be lonely by himself?
Should I add small dithers, if so what?
Will it stunt his growth in a 55 gal?

Thanks!

He'll be fine by himslef in a 55

he will be fine as the sole cichlid. maybe some upper level swimmers and bottom dwellers to give him confidence.

you could put 4 sliver dollar in there with him.

Im going to disagree with everyone and say no, especially if its a glass banger. I think the minimum for a male GT is a 75 after seeing my old good sized male in 72 and constantly thinking it needed alot more room.

If the 55 isnt going to be its permanent home then go for it and upgrade down the road.

i should have added that you should consider upgrading to a 75 as mentioned should your GT hits 8" or so and is still growing because they have the potential for 12"+ with the right care.

it may need the extra turning space.

very good point . . .

My GT looks huge in a 55. He's over 10"

Going in a 160 when i set it up

I suggest a 75 atleast for a GT
