I woke up this morning to see that something seems to have tired to eat my male lyonsi's eye. Does anyone know if just putting him into a recovery tank with a good amount of aquarium salt will do the trick? Should I try something else? Any information would be helpful!
I just hope he is going to be alright... He is the only male I got out of the 4 that I have. Already had some mystery disease kill my breeding male Freddy last week.
His eye is starting to turn cloudy and his eye has grown larger in size. Going to check the water quality after work today. I put in a higher salt content then I normally do just to be safe. I will keep you posted if anything changes.
Looks to be a nasty case of pop eye. My centrarchus had it a few months ago. It is usually caused by an abrasion but can also be because of water quality. It might help us out more if you post your water parameters(nitrite, nitrate, and ammonia).
Also I personally don't use salt in treating injured fish. Only time I ever add salt is for ich. I have never hade to deal with pop eye so I am not much good there but there is a freshwater disease and treatment section in general aquaria that should tell you the best way to treat it. Pristine water is the best start.
