hi guys,
my sister has a 35 gallon aquarium that she realy can't look after on her own, so i do the water changes and stuff. truth is, i'm getting sick of it. i know its a small tank, buti can't decide what gos into it, but i have to look after it :screwy:

so....
i saw some mississippi maps at a pet store, and they look preety cool. i did some reading, and have discovered that males get between 3.5 and 5 inches, and females get 8-10. also, i have read that they are pretty calm for turtles, so could i keep a few larger fish with one?

the tank would be half filled with water, and woud have one of those turtle docks for it to get out of the water.

the tank dimesnsions are 36"x12"x18" high

thanks,
Connor

It may work. make shure you dont use any agressive species of fish. Even smaller are the males of Texas map turtles and cagles map turtles. thouse are pretty cool but much more expencive:D

well, i talked to my little sister and she likes the idea. then i started thinking, at my mom's new house, she will be building an outdoor pond. since red ears and painted live around here, i was thinking about growing out a few babies (2-4). they are also at the store (in the same tank as the maps), and are only about 1.5 inches long.

do you guys think that my 6 inch blood parrot would try to snatch them when they are swimming? his mouth is only like a square centimeter (he has a hell of a time trying to swallow the large hikari golds:D), and he really isn't aggressive to the platties and tetras that are in the tank. he only gets in very, very small 'fights' with my synodontis catfish. and would a red tail shark try to eat them? her mouth is small too, but would she try to pick at their legs? same with the syno

sorry about all of the questions guys, but i really don't want my new pets getting hurt.

It may work, but remenbar that when a ciclid wants to pick at something he will find a way to do it regardless of its mouth size. Let the turts grow a few inches to be on the safe side:)
