Over the past few weeks I have noticed a distinct change in my male motoro. He went from a darker chocolate brown to a light tan. His spots are still fine, no damage or bites and the female is still dark choclate brown.

Is this normal? The female is also beginning to get bigger than him by a noticable margin. He is about 8" and she has grown to 9"

When I first got them they were both dark brown and the same size.

Should I be worried?

Ps: water was tested and it came out fine. They are in my 180 gallon with some parrots, a flag tail, clown loaches and an indo dat.

The two flag tails are usually oblivious to the two rays. The discs on BOTH rays are perfect. No damage, and I have not changed anything in my tank. Lighting has been the same, filtration, feeding schedule, w/c schedule, water conditioners etc...

Oddly enough my arowana died around the time he started changing color, but the arowana jumped and didn't die in the water or anything (so no screwy water)

I wouldnt worry my male motoro was light like that. I personally like the lighter motoros
