Anyone else had male rays fighting? Ive got a huge 29" male jaguar ray ive brought another around 22" and everything was ok first few days then my original male went to town on the new one. Anyone had this and did it calm down? Is it just dominance then will be ok or will they never be able to be together once bullying had started.ive seperated at the min 2 female motoro also in tank

Ive had both males and females fight each other to death... if you see it happening def. separate as they will not stop in most cases. Ive had more problems with male vs. male but my worst case was also fem vs. fem chewed to death over night in a rare case. Id say this is a common issue that most ray keepers overlook or dont talk about much. After the juvie/pup stage agression is always there in any “community” ray setup. The stress alone of being chased around 24:7 is enough to do them in let alone the persistent chewing chunks or scraping their backs/eyes with teeth. Have a male that took almost 3 yrs to heal back to full disc after being mutilated by his own brother. I keep all my males solo in their own tanks unless i wish to breed. Also keep a female only tank and they chew on each other quite often. Bit unsightly to throw a permenant net cage of sorts in ur big tank but its a must when keeping multiple rays together same sex or not.

ReApEr666 thanks for your reply on your experience with this. The sectioned of cage is there for some time to grow out piraiba so im going to try once more in few months if not i will have to move on the smaller new one.
