There is no sure way to tell male from female. Some say u could go off long fins indicating male, but that is often not a 100% indicator

Almost impossible to tell with EBJDs unless you see them spawning lol. Get a clearer picture of the gold and It should be pretty easy to tell if its male or female. The gold females have blue on their gill plates just as any other female JD or BGJD.

Just figured one out...EBJD is a male. Remembered he spawned with my convict awhile back and I figured out that the convict is the female(orange spot on side?)

Female convicts usually have orange on them, so you have a male EBJD.
