This jag is about 3.5 inches I'm thinking male due to colors size and dominance but it can be tough at this size. Any guesses?

He's usually not showing the vertical bars this much. Thinking the photography was stressing him out some
I think a three inch jag is too small to sex accurately, at least for me. At this point, the body shape looks female and the pattern looks male.
I'd say male. Looks awesome! I've got a female and she looked a little lighter and not patterned as heavy. I love the red eyes. There are a few different types of jags so I could be wrong though. Aggression isn't a good thing to go by because out of all my fish the male dovii is the most docile. My jag and midas won't allow my hands or anything into their tanks
Do tell...How do you, as an apparent "quality expert", decipher the "quality" of a fish, let alone at 3 inches?
Thats a skill lots would pay many millions to acquire or have at their disposal.
and to the OP...I cant tell 100% at that size either.
