Male or Female Jaguar?

i would say female only because it still has the black stripes instead of the jaguar pattern that mature males get. The best way to find out is to vent the fish. Take the fish out and flip it over and look at the size of the two holes, then put the fish into a bucket for 20 min. Take the fish out and look again. If they got smaller, it is a male. if they stay the same it is a female. (Obviously put the fish back into the tank after you have guessed on the sex of the fish.)

It's an absolute bugger to catch which is why I haven't tried venting yet. Was hoping people on here might know. So I can avoid stressing it out trying to catch it if I can. But I'll vent if I have to, to know for sure.

since its 6"+ i really am thinking male. heres my 8" female. notice how much more white there is than on your fish and she has no dark spotting below the lateral line which your jag has plenty of spots below the lateral line
Thanks so much everyone. I thought he was a male. We've been calling him a he since I got him a month ago just seems to have a male character I guess. Now I have to try and find a female. That seems to be proving harder than I thought. I think I was lucky to get him I can't even find males let alone females anywhere near me.
Even if you ignore the spots altogether, the body shape is male. Females are more rounded and males have more head.
