Is my JD male or female, it's still a Juve so might be to early to tell

She looks really dark. Kind of drab. Even female jack Dempseys can have color that pops.

It's about 2.5 inch

I was thinking female she has hardly any turquoise dots on her body

Even at that small size im still gonna say female. Ime jack Dempseys show dimorphic differences pretty early.

I've only had it 3 months it's bigger than when I got it, I hope she shows some more colour as she grows, she has plenty of character though already, comes to the front of the tank when I get back from work, knows it's feeding time,
