Thats kinda what i thought. Thanks Peanut

I dunno, I'd wait for a second opinion or three...haha. That last picture looks almost like the front fish is female and the back one is male. Its dorsal is down though. Fingers crossed eh?

You know what... I'm saying two males.

To make things really difficult my male has a large amount of white in his dorsal. However, the female has a very distinct white band. When you see them side by side it is obvious.

Another characteristic is the "muscle" striations on the abdomen. Males have them, females don't. Neither of your pics is close enough or clear enough to see whether or not they are present.

Let me post some pics of my pair and you'll see the obvious differences.

OK, here we go.

This is one of the females:

Note how the only white on the dorsal is just the band. Alos note how the band carries through onto the caudal fin as well.

The male:

Note the distinct striations on the belly of the fish. And while the male's dorsal is white it is all white and not just a band. Depending on the angle of the shot and the way the flash catches it, the dorsal can look very white in certain pictures.

The pair (male in back):

When seen side by side the belly striation are very obvious. Unfortunately I don't have a shot of them side by side with their dorsal both up so it's a bit harder to tell but I think it can be seen from these pics.

Chief, some clearer, closer pics of the details would certainly help in ID'ing them. Also, try and take the pics at an angle to the fish and/or tank so that there is not so much glare and bounce back from the flash. It will help bring out the details better without washing them out. Lastly, turn out all the lights in the room and use just the tank lights and your camera flash. That will reduce glare on the glass making it easier to get pics that are more easily viewed. Taking the pics at night also helps so that you don't have glare from windows.

I think their sex is... Hmmmm...really sexy.

Looking at your pics, my lents look more like your male. I do not see a pronounced white line on mine. The dorsal on mine seems to have alot of pink and blues on them like your male. What size are your lents now Scat? Mine are about 9-10".

The male is about 9" and the two females are about 7" each. That was the other point. The male has easily outgrown the two females even from a very young age. He has always been bigger, more aggressive and ate almost anything that hit the water.
