Male or Female Mota?

Been growing him/her out for around 6 months, current size is around 5 1/2". Been thinking it is a male, but I'm not too sure. Looking for other opinions, as only time will tell for certain.

shes pretty plump to be a male. Also the red on the bottom of her face is also a sign. Males usually get patterns throughout their bodies by this size. Very nice fish btw !

I agree, looks like a female. Males have numerous small spots on the gill plate and on the lower jaw.

Female like everyone else said. Her colors would be much stronger with a male in the tank with her.

Thanks for all the responses, the main reason I thought male was it was the largest and most dominant of the 6 fry I had.

The pics helped, I just wasn't sure what size the male coloration would appear, if it was indeed a male. Looks like a just have a really dominant female lol

Sometimes the fastest growing and the most dominate fry turn out to be females... nice fish!!
