Male or Female RTGG?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Male RTGG's have a longer more pointed anal/dorsal fin where as the female will have shorter more rounded anal/dorsal fins. This beautiful RTGG has a short more rounded anal/dorsal fin which leads me to believe it is a female. Compare andrewsin avatar(male RTGG) to your pic...notice the long flowing finage that come directly to a point. This method is not 100% and some individual females will have genes that produce more longer /pointy finage giving them the appearence of a male and visa versa..

Thanks for looking! Full tank shot is in the 450 thread in my sig. I'm very happy with this GG. She doesn't seem to like silver fish lol my Aro and two Bala's get pushed around a bit but not a big problem so far.

Hows her aggression? Shes gorgeous btw..

Very mellow but she's the smallest one in a large under stocked tank. She seems to mess with my Black Aro, nudging him around once in a while. The Aro doesn't even acknowledge her lol

She may get more aggressive as she getts bigger. Some how they know they can pretty much push any fish around at will when mature. My GG wont allow any fish larger than 5-6" in his tank. He will beat the crap out of any fish larger than that. I tried my male RD, silver aro and various other large fish to no avail..Hes very picky but he doesnt have a 450 either...lol....soon...very soon..

Mine also disliked silver i.e. my silver aro and fish with red in them. Had to get rid of all four oscars due to harassment.

Mine was mellow as Sunday afternoon until he hit about 10-12" then realised he had enough weight to throw around. Nothing too serious but enjoys a chase now and then.
