Please help... I have had my Texas for alittle over a year and still can't tell if it's a he or a she... He/she is over 10in and I would love to breed one day. Any advice?

And can anyone tell me what kind of Texas it is? I can't tell if it's a blue or green. Thank u!

That doesn't seem to be 10" maybe 6-7" and sex you have to vent usually. Id bet on it being male due to appearance

A true Texas cichlid not a pearlscale. And I'm going with female.

i think its a carpintis not cyanoguttatus. carpintis have "worm" markings, like your does on its face. cyanoguttatus have spots. or it could be a cross. i feel like the pet trade industry has a done good job at mixing these guys up and creating a texas cichlid version of the "midevil".

i think cyanoguttatus is the "true texas cichlid" but every lfs I've been too sells carpintis and cyanoguttatus as texas cichlids. its kind of like the whole green terror debate.

not sure about sex.

It is definitely a male.

I also would not take Ehh's advice, he does not own a Texas cichlid and I don't think he knows nearly as much as he pretends to as we have all been noticing lately

It's Not a true texas for sure.. It's a LFS carpinti/texas
