Okay.. so.. I'm new to the whole pleco world... I've been told it's almost impossible to sex a 'common' pleco (I've included a few pics, if anyone can tell me exactly what he is I'd greatly appreciate it.) But mine (12" long, not sure how old, found a local ad online a month ago and had to have him) is showing what I think is rather odd behavior for a lonesome pleco.. "He" will take off out of of his cave and wiggle around really fast against the glass until "he", uh, ejaculates? Is this normal behavior? What comes out of "him" is like a tsp of an almost transparent jelly type substance.. which floats around for a while before getting caught on a leaf, eaten by the other (in my opinion perverted) fish in the tank, or sucked up by the filter. I assumed at first it was a male because of this, but on time I looked at the, uh, stuff.. and it seemed to have what looked like 7 or 8 little eggs in it.. so is it a girl?? I don't know why a female would be laying eggs with no suitable male around.. (unless she finds the 2" pleco I just brought home a few weeks ago extremely attractive.. eh?)
Sorry for such a long post. I joined this site just so I could ask this question, lol. Please, any help would be great. Thanks. :goldfish:
