Hello, I am posting this from my phone, so please excuse any errors. I tried to post earlier and my demon phone sent it to the pike section for some reason.
Anyway, I picked this fish up yesterday and would like to know if it is a male or female. Thanks in advance.

Hard to say right now, but if I had to guess...I would tentatively say female. There is next to zero KOK development. My FH showed signs of the nuchal hump very early on.

Thanks for answering. She's definitely got tons of personality already, that's for sure!

Ok, thanks. I'll wait until it gets a little bigger and ask again in a few weeks.

Looks like there is the start of bars on the dorsal so I'd say female too

Too early to tell but I think male short body fh
I feel if it was female It would already have a solid blotch on the dorsal

I can see them .. ish but it's only 80% accurate way of sexing

So, the dorsal markings are a pretty good way to determine sex in Flowerhorns? I do see them starting to come out now that the fish is settling in. I assume that means an 80% chance that it's a female?

Female Flowerhorns have an 80% likelihood of having dorsal fin bar markings ... males don't have them .. there are 20% of females who will show no barring so it's only one method ... as the dorsal fin bars are secondary sexual characteristics they also tend to show a little after some of the usual marks have appeared .. but if your fh has them she's female
