I have a pair of dovii and they have spawned once, has anyone seen parachromis males spawn with multiple females? 1 male 2 or 3 females? Would a male kill off others in favor of hos bonded female? If you were to remove his female and put another in with him would he rebond? How strong are parachromis bonds?

The male wont mate with multiple females. Yes he will likely kill another female if you remove his mate and introduce another female. Putting any other adult CA cichlid...especially Parachromis...would result in problems. I have had several fish kill a mate. Occasionally I will get luck and have them bond a second time. My experience has been that if you are going to play the sex ratio game...do it with an extra male....in a bigger tank. I don't know why...but his has worked a dozen times or more for me over the years.

Keep in mind every fish is different though. Using a divider method would be a somewhat safe route. Keep in mind a girthy dovii will make fun out of trying to dislodge the divider so secure it well

I had 1 male and 2 females. My male only bonded with the one female. Even though he never beat on the other female he never mated with her. Now last year my male managuense switched females and after one spawn with the other female he went back to the original female.

That's interesting how big was your tank???
