Picked up the last addition to my tank this past weekend. He was a trade in from one of the local fish club members to a LFS who the owner also belongs to the same club. So needless to say that the fish is healthy/parasite/etc. free.

Anyways, I got him on Saturday, and within the past 2 days he has now been in 3 different tanks. So when I saw that he was dark in color I didn't think anything of it and figured it was just stress related. Actually at the LFS I walked right past his tank and didn't notice him - that's how dark he is.

So, question being, about how long will it take for him to get some color back? I re-did my tank layout for him to create new hiding spots to make him feel more comfortable (pic of tank setup here).

He's eating well, doesn't like NLS pellets but will take the Hikari with no issues, eating flakes as well as frozen blood worms too.

Not only has he been in 3 different tanks but probably 3 different water parameters. It will probably take him another week to really start to settle down, but really no one can say for sure.

Yeah I never thought about that, you're completely right.

beautiful setup!

What's his size???

He's about 5", the biggest in the tank.

All I have is a bad camera phone, but you can see how dark he is. I walked right past him in the LFS because there is no visible yellow at all.

Woah. he does look stressed out. Just don't move him again. I would turn off the tank lights for a day or 2 to let him relax.

My tank lights are really dim, have a single bulb 48" strip light on the tank. He is eating, hope he gets de-stressed here shortly. Can't wait to see his colors.
