I have a 4" Male salvini which is in a 75 gallon. I put a 4" oscar in with him and has turned out fairly badly with the oscar being beaten nearly to death, does anyone have any suggestions for tank mates?

^Dan's idea is probably the best one. If you don't want a breeding pair, you could try adding an adult cichlid of larger size (8-10ish inches) like a jack Dempsey. Adding cichlids to a tank where another one has established territory already is always a crapshoot. If you go that route, I would take the salvini and put in in a bucket, completely re-arrange the tank, then put the JD in first, then the salvini after, and no lights for the first day. Keep a divider on hand and watch them, if it's going sour divide them. Best of luck.

My guess would be a cichlid with similar temperament that way they can hold their own. But maybe seperate the tank in half so salvini doesn't own whole tank then after they establish see if it works out. Hit or miss though
Try a Cuban

Once the male salvini has adapted a tank as its territory (especially a tank that small), only a receptive female will be accepted. No other cichlid will probably work (as the oscar has shown you), maybe a few large live bearers, because they wouldn't represent a territorial threat.
